My Girlfriend is raising a national service dog who is being trained to become a companion dog for a child with autism. Volunteers raise the specially bred dogs for around a year, bringing them everywhere they go and getting them used to being out in public and interacting in the situations they will see when with their child. Mango goes to class with Sofia and when on work term goes to work with her. They attend weekly puppy classes and have special rules associated with when you can and cannot pet them and which commands they are supposed to respond to. I have attended puppy class a few times in the past but this time I decided to take my camera and snap a few photos of Sofia and Mango in action. I am very proud of what Sofia is accomplishing with Mango and am very excited to see her succeed and move on to become someone else’s best friend.
